This sweet slice-of-life rom-com anime became a sensation among anime lovers after its release. Since then, fans have been wanting Toradora! Season 2. The rising popularity of this anime released in 2008, saw its fans falling for its various charms. Thus, speculations of a second season have been up and high.
Even though there have been speculations and rumors about Toradora! Season 2, no official news or statement has been released from the production house about the release of a second installment, even after 13 years have passed since the release of the first season. The season isn’t completely canceled, but after such an incredible amount of waiting, fans are questioning if the sequel will ever happen. However, fans are still holding on to hope for its release.
Toradora! Season 1 Recap
The series opens with the primary setting of its character Ryuuji Takasu, who is in their second year of high school. His class consists of his crush, Minori Kushieda, and his best friend, Yusaka Kitamura. He soon bumps into the feisty Taiga Aisaka. Ryuuji soon understands that before Taiga will help him get closer to Minori, he has to first help her get closer to Yusaku. Taiga and Ryuuji try a lot to change their current status with their respective crushes.
YÅ«saku and Minori then force Ryuuji and Taiga to eat with them during lunch. As Taiga became tense in front of Yusaku, she inadvertently tells them that RyÅ«ji made her bento. Taiga also comes to dislike Ami, Yusaku’s childhood friend. As the four friends venture through trials of holding onto friendships and finding love, we soon reach the climax of the anime.
While trying to catch up with Taiga, Minori confesses that she has always loved Ryuuji. She also tells her that Ryuuji loves Taiga. Ryuuji and Taiga stop at a bridge to talk about their situations. Taiga accidentally pushes him into the river. Ryuuji yells to Taiga his plan of running away and marrying her. Ryuuji thus decides that he and Taiga will not run away. Instead, they will get married with everyone’s approval.
Toradora! Season 2 Plot
The anime revolves around Ryuuji Takasu, who despite having a gentle demeanor and a love for household chores, is marked as a delinquent person because of his intimidating face and not-so-friendly eyes, by the people around him. This comes as a direct contrast to his gentle personality, and he is frustrated at trying to look his best as he enters his second year of high school.
He is happy to be in class with his best friend Yusaku Kitamura, as well as with the girl he has a crush on, Minori Kushieda. Soon he meets Taiga Aisaka, a small, doll-like student, who unlike her looks is anything but a cute and fragile girl. Equipped with a wooden katana and feisty personality, Taiga is known throughout the school as the “Palmtop Tiger,”- the school’s most dangerous animal of the highest risk level. Taiga is known for her negative attitude towards others and has a habit of snapping violently at people. She instantly dislikes Ryuji, and matters turn out for the worse as she is living in an apartment facing Ryuji’s house.
We soon get to see, that Taiga has a crush on Yusaku, Ryuji has feelings for Minori, Thus, they make an arrangement to help set each other up with their crushes. As the series progresses, Ryuji and Taiga try to set up romantic situations to help each other get to know their friends, but many of the situations backfire as well. This rom-com anime with its sweet plot, was able to capture the hearts of many.
