NieR: Automata Ver1.1a Season 2 Release Date, Plot, Recap, Cast, and Where to Watch

With the coming of new-age game-type anime, Nier: Automata Ver1.1a has been the talk in the anime community. With the premiering of the first season with an estimation of 24 episodes, there is talk about Nier: Automata Ver1.1a Season 2 to be released.

NieR: Automata Ver1.1a Season 2 is yet to be announced as there has been no official release regarding this. The anime is a 2023 television series, based on the action role-playing game of the same name Nier: Automata. However, looks like that a second season of the anime can be announced anytime, given the mainly positive statistics of the current 1st season, the viewers’ consensus, and many such things.

NieR: Automata Ver1.1a Season 1 Recap

The anime opens with the laments and cries of a woman humanoid carrying the corpse of a boy. She cries over an ongoing war, and how long she must keep fighting while everything turns to dust. This woman in question is introduced as 2B, a female humanoid who is sent on a mission to fight against the enemy machines. However, she is the sole surviving member to actually reach the mission site, as the rest of her unit is destroyed while reaching the mission site. With the assistance of the newly arrived 9S, another humanoid soldier that specializes in scouting and hacking, the two defeat the final machine and split up to search the factory for their target.

They find their target enemy, a skyscraper-like machine, belonging to the Goliath class. 9S uses his abilities to hack Goliath. The Council of Humanity addresses YoRHa with a speech explaining that Aliens invaded Earth with an army of Machine Lifeforms in the year 5012, forcing the remaining humanity to retreat to the Moon and build an army of androids to retake Earth.

2B and 9S are assigned to head to Earth to investigate why YoRHa’s liaison with the Resistance has gone silent. Soon, The Machines gain more intelligence as they increasingly mimic human behavior. At the Resistance camp, 2B and 9S debriefed on the human-like Machines they encountered, which YoRHa has dubbed “Adam” and “Eve”. Adam and Eve start gaining knowledge, and Adam convinces Eve to call him the older brother.

The story of the anime is set in the distant future of 5012. In this future, the Earth is invaded by aliens, and their Machine Lifeforms with humanity are driven to the brink of their end. Thus, the surviving humans take refuge on the moon and decide to counterattack after building androids to retake the Earth. Due to the Machine Lifeforms’ characteristic to multiply indefinitely, this war to retake the Earth comes to a halt. In order to turn the war in their favor, humanity deploys a new unit of android soldiers as an ultimate weapon: YoRHa.

Newly dispatched to Earth 2B joins 9S, the analyst currently stationed there, and these two humanoid androids amidst their mission, must encounter a myriad of mysterious phenomena. As the war to defeat the machines rage on, the YoRHa slowly begins to see the first fragments of truth, underlying the brutal conflict. Facing the harsh reality before her amidst the nerve-wracking war and countless deaths, the unwavering warrior 2B starts to question her very existence, and just how much she must sacrifice for the sake of humanity. 2B and 9S also, must keep aside their sheer differences and disputes, in order to fight for their right.
